When I read your title, I clicked, thinking I would vehemently disagree with whatever you wrote. However, you perfectly explained the difference between being nice and being kind. I agree 100%.

I especially connected with the distinction between the West Coast and East Coast. As a west coaster, I have to say that I agree again, 100%. The "niceness" of the West Coast is only superficial but ultimately useless and sometimes harmful.
