My first run-in with evangelical Christianity was when I was 7 years old. My mother’s door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman of a boyfriend tried the same tactics with me. I asked him why didn’t he pray in Jesus’s language. I said that I thought it was rude and assumptive to address him in English.
